perigynous
adjective
(Gr. peri: around; gynę: female) With stamens, petals, and sepals borne on a calyx tube (hypanthium) surrounding, but not actually attached to the superior ovar, i.e. with stamens, petals, and sepals adnate to the perianth, and therefore around the ovary and not at its base. Cf. epigynous, hypogynous. See perigyny.
